ok, so i tried to cut+copy a few files to another folder. I highlighted the files, then clicked cut. Then i clicked copy to another folder. it gave me an error, (couldnt move files, they were used by another program, dont worry about that)...but after it gave me the error, my files were already deleted. what happened to them!?! how can i get them back?

Most likely a virus. Try scanning your computer.

I don't think a System Restore is going to bring back deleted files. The Restore works on various SYSTEM files and settings.

Don't want to sound like the grammar police, but what you said may be the problem. You said "cut+copy". This may have confused Windows. I know you meant cut + PASTE. But, if you hit the wrong button/command, it may have sent the thing off in the wrong direction. Computers do EXACTLY what you say, even if you don't really mean that.
