If this is in the wrong forum please change to correct one. I have Nero 6, DVD Shrink, and windows media player 10 installed. When I use Shrink I can play and hear audio on the dvd along with video but when I put a dvd and try to play in Media player the dvd shows video and no sound whether it is a copy or a store bought disc. Cannot find any fix at microsoft, updates on Nero 6, or google search but have found many searching for a fix. Has anyone found a viable solution to the problem? Media player plays CD's with sound all right. Thanks in advance.

What about with other media players (e.g. Media Player Classic, Nero Show Time)?

Went back and wiped it out and then reinstalled the biggest version (guess you call it the full one) And Woolaaah it works great even Media player now gets sound playing DVD's. Dvd's p[lay loudly if needed and CD's do play lowder than the DVD's but there must have been a conflict some where and Codecs pak straightened it out. I likke Codecs better than Media player and thank you for your help. When I did a search on Google for this problem - many others had the same as me - will see if I can locate these and suggest what you did for me.

scf_au You are awesome. I was looking everywhere to try and get this problem sorted out, this took care of it straight away. I did get the same type of problem that aslie did, but was able to take care of it. Go to Tools-Options-DVD-Advanced-Main - move the gain slider up higher and you'll be as loud as you need to be.

    Have a good one.

BenMincho - I had tried this previously and it did not correct it on my PC - glad it did it for you - For some reason Service Pack 2 caused me a whole lot of trouble after automaticlly installing and either this or me trying to correct situations caused my sound problem. Some people have said it was a conflict between Nero and Microsofts settings - others said if I upgraded my Nero that the problem would be solved but I did not want to spend the $$$$ to try it. At this point I like Codec's better than Media Player but that's just me. My PC is almost 4 years old and not everything is tip top after much usage.
