Windows Media Player 10

Gentlemen: I made a mistake. I downloaded "Windows Media Player 10" over "Windows Media Player 9" and I want the "9" version back. I tried "Google" but to no avail. Everthing is being played by version 10 now and my computer doesn't like it! I would like to set my viewing up where "Media Player Classic" is the predominent player, NOT "Windows media player 10". Anyone know how I can do this...

Go to Add/Remove Programs.
Make sure "Show updates"(at the top) is checked.
Located Windows Media Player 10 under "Windows Software Updates"
Highlight and remove.
You will be rolled back to WMP 9.

 

Hello Niabis: I believe you are on the right track. When I tried your suggestions, I got a box reply stating that in order to roll back I had to close "Windows Media 10" and all programs???? I can't even open Media 10 in order to close it? How do I close wmp 10?
And what does "all programs" imply? sounds like there just playing games? ronnies

 

Closing all programs just means to close all open windows and any programs that might be using WMP.

Close all windows and try again. If you are still prompted to close WMP, roll back in safe mode.

Hello niobis: Well I have "Windows Media Player 9". I tried to play a movies in that format and it asked me to make "Windows Media Player 9" the prime player. SOOO I did, now I can't get the movies to play again? What is wrong with this crazy "Windows media" garbage? So I can either fix it in some way??, return it to where it was prior, which I don't know how to do. Or delete it - which sounds good? If I delete it, I'm not sure if I can play any music, which I downloaded or the movies which I have downloaded? HOW can I make this right? Ronnies

Hi: I tried to download the "Codec Pack 2261 KLCP 20061126" and I could not get my computer to allow this to run. I got an access denied thru "My Name" and thru "Administrator? Any suggestions?

Are you prompted as to why the movie will not play?

Are you the administrator to that computer?

 

No I am not prompted , I just get a "buffer overflow blocked" message when I try to open the clip. No I am not the Administrator but I get access by using "Ron". Extremely disapointed with the "Windows Media Series". I would like to make "Media Player Classic" the Basic format, not "Windows Media Player". Ronnies

 

Okay, can't find a whole lot of info about this, but try cleaning the WMP cache. CCleaner will clean the WMP cache and will also clean temp files and cookies from your computer. The default options are set to clean WMP cache so no need in changing anything.


Go here and download [bold]CCleaner[/bold].
[bold]Note[/bold]: If you do not want [bold]Yahoo! Toolbar[/bold] uncheck the option when installing.
Open [bold]CCleaner[/bold].
Click [bold]Options[/bold] > [bold]Advance[/bold] > uncheck "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours".
Close all windows.
Click Cleaner > [bold]Run Cleaner[/bold].

Then, try playing the clip or movie again.
