    Hi there,

I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum for asking this question, but the guys here seemed more helpful than most others. If it is the wrong forum a hint in the direction of another would be much appreciated.

I had to rebuild my desktop recently and installed DivX Player and Codec and also the Xvid codec. The problem is now when I playback AVI movie clips through media player I can no longer skip to various points within the movie. Whenever I try to click the seek bar it just pops back to the beginning. This is very frustrating if you're watching a film one night and want to go back to it the other.

I've noticed the DivX movie player doesn't have this problem - I can skip to anywhere in that particular app.

Call me a dinosaur :) but I prefer the media player as it covers up the whole screen whereas the DivX player doesn't meaning the background clutter on my desktop sometimes creates glare etc - and I'm not moving that Kylie background off for nothing or nobody! :)

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem is? Wrong codec? Media player not configured correctly?

    Any help greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    JJayUK ("Family Guy" fan!)
