    I had Windows Media Player 9. I wanted to upgrade it the 11 version.I installed the Win Media Player 11. Now whenever I try to launch the media player or click on a music file, a message appears saying;
    ''The file wmplayer.exe has a version 11.0.5358.4286 where 9.0.0.3250 was expected''
    How can get my W.M.P. back???
    PLEASE HELP....

    Way back when WMP was used on my machine and caused problems, I'd uninstall then run a reg cleaner like ccleaner and then manually remove any files/folders associated with wmp and then restart my pc. Download wmp (if you must) directly from M$......install and all should go well.

    You could also use the Download tab at the top of the page for other types of players. You might look at codecs while you're there also.

    Media player classic

    VLC

    Are all good alternatives. Some say wmp is spyware.. some say it's just plain bloated rubbish......some say it's the bees knees
    (oopps...we lined 'em up against the wall who said that...sorry) heheheh.

    MPC is not as "purdy" as wmp, but does an excellent job despite being "ordinary" looking. :p
    To be absolutely honest, I'd rather not have wmp. Your thoughts?...lol.

    Are your Windows Service Packs up to date? You must at least have SP2.
