windows media player

    Before I reinstalled my windows I was able to play avi with my windows media player,after doing all my updates I cannot play avi or convert avi to dvd with out the right codecs, I think, can anyone help?

    Well I think you have allready answered your Own Question ....

    You need to have Codecs installed to decode the Format you are Working with....

    I have Found that if you install the "FFDShow Decoder" and enable all of the Codec options that it will decode Pretty Much every AVI format and audio Format... I find it best to just install the Codecs that you need instead of Installing a Codec Pack which can install Codecs that Conflict with each other that is why i like useing FFDShow because it is one Small Decoder that Handles Most all formats.....
