Just downloaded the most recent version of Media Player. How do I set it not to be my default player.

Everytime I put a DVD in it automatically launches itself only to come up with Codec errors...how do I disengage?

    Thanks in advance

    Tools, Options, File Types tab.

Uncheck want you don't want as a default player.

Second option, any media file on your system...right click, properties, then click the Change button and re-associate.

As far as codec problems go, there are codec packs out there that help when WMP seems to always have a "cannot find the codec" error. I've ran into that myself on only one of our machines even though all four run the same OS and WMP versions.
