hey i got windows xp with my comp and now i need to reinstall the system cause the system files got deleted. however i don't have the cd but do have a product key.anyways whats better windows xp home or windows proffessional? whats OEM? should i get a harddrive with it? also i can i buy a legal copy of windows already installed on hard drive so that i just need to install the hardrive instead of drivers?
Pro has more administrative properties and settings. OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. It's a version of software/hardware that was specifically sold to a given customer/company which resells the product and provides support to that product. For example, if you buy a Dell computer with Windows XP on it, your support for Windows is provided by Dell, not Microsoft. With what? If you want a new hard drive, go ahead and buy one! Installing a hard drive with Windows already on it, is not a good idea. During installation of Windows to that hd, setup installed drivers to boot the machine Windows was installed with. Your best option for putting in a new hard drive is to do a new installation.
my pc crashed and i had to re-install windows, everything was fine until when i tried to activate windows. It said that i used my activation key too often,so i cant use it anymore. what do i do? do i call them? will they give me a new key?. by the way i have an original copy of windows and an original serial
Call them. They will give you an activation key (not the same as your installation key) to put in to activate.
