Hey..I have this problem...the computers at my school seem to reset windows everytime they reboot...what i mean is that any file that was saved anywhere on c: is deleted...there is also a hard disk drive d: that has only 150mb of space and that one is working fine...and doesn't lose any files...i thought of using partition magic to increase that partition's space but partition magic doesn't recognise it...in fact it only shows up c: as being unpartitioned....and even if i try to create a new partition on c: the pc has to reboot and after rebooting it has completely "forgotten" about the partition.. is there any way to make files downloaded to c: not go away after rebooting?or even make the pc not to reset everytime? i have access to the admin account so installing something or tweaking some settings wouldn't be a problem... thanks....
Well there is an In-depth way to change this, I will explain your problem first. Its the network settings, It is not a problem it is set this way to prect the computer (and its space) this is why you are allocated (or should have been) with a Network drive, H: or something, If not, And if you have a personal account (Meaning you log on with your name) you can save things in "My Documents" Also, Drive D: may be your personal drive; The school network creator probably set it this way to prevent you from installing games etc.
just a word of advice, hunk: knock it off. downloading at school is only going to land you in trouble. if you get caught messing around with the systems, trying to increase the space you download on, you're going to lose computer privileges and possibly catch much worse. it's just not smart to download at school.
Auslander if i get caught i'll be already in trouble since i hacked my way into the administrative account..it's amazing what you can find in google....plus i don't have an internet connection at home right now so my school is the only internet access i have....and my psp maybe... NicHt as you understand i don't have my own account and i can't create one...cause when the machine reboots my account is gone...also nothing gets saved on my documents folder...it's like having a ps2 and hitting the reset button...it resets to it's default settings..heck even the wallpaper changes back to the default one!!! p.s. i intended to put brackets on problem but forgot it..
the point is, if you quit now, you'll be okay. but if you keep it up, you're gonna catch some flyin' poo. your choice, but it's a poor one.
catch some flyin' poo? i have no idea what that means...it's gotta be bad though... anyway i'd like to know what i can do and then decide..obviously if it involves unscrewing the computer or anything farfetched like that then i'm not going to do it,but if it's a simple task that takes about 10 minutes to do then i'll think about it...thanks for your consern though...
