I just recently had spyware but managed to clean it out. But I still can't remove Windows Safety Alert and its taking up lots of memory. How can I remove it?

    ---------------------------------

Do you have Spybot Search&Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html ), AVG Anti Spyware (http://www.ewido.net/en/download/) And Ad-Aware SE Personal (http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=506) Also, you will need to have CCleaner installed http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4191 )
If you don’t have any of these, please download them, update them and run them individually in safe mode. Then, boot back into regular mode, and post a new HJT log once again. Thanks!

I was interested to see this thread because it relates to my own situation. My computer was recently infected with the "spylocked 4.0"
Trojan. I have McAfee, Spybot S&D, Windows Defender, and Ad-Aware all installed on my computer. Ad-Aware was the only one that found and removed the the problem. However, if I go to the control panel to remove programs, the is a program listed called "Windows Safety Alert" which claims to use approximately 5 gig of space on my hard drive. If I click on the change/remove button the program installs "spylocked 4.0".
I can find no other reference to the safety alert program on my hard drive. If I examine the properties of the hard drive there is a 5 gig discrepancy between the drive and all of the folders on the drive.
Any comments on the situation would be greatly appreciated.

    Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Run the file, it will extract Smitfraudfix to its own folder and run.

Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

If you are still in need of help for your issue, please start your own thread. This will reduce confusion in responses and allow the helpers to better help both you and the originator of this thread.
