ok...i accidentally deleted my media folder (C:\Windows\Media) and now i've lost all my sounds. is there a program that will quickly add or change the sound schemes for XP? also, does anyone know where i can download the original sound files i've now lost? and what about those nifty desktop themes from windows 98? they came with some pretty cool sound schemes. where can i find those .wav files? thank you very much to those who take the time out to assist me!
I JUST POSTED THIS FREE SOLFWARE..THIS MORNING I HAVE NOT TESTED THIS TOOL.. FREE,PhotoRec,data recovery software Known file format PhotoRec searches known file header and because there is no data fragmentation (usually), it can recover the whole file. Photorec recognises numerous file format including ZIP, Office, PDF, HTML, JPEG and various graphics file formats. The whole list of file formats recovered by PhotoRec contains more than 80 file extensions. PhotoRec is file data recovery software designed to recover lost files including video, documents and archives from Hard Disks and CDRom and lost pictures (Photo Recovery) from digital camera memory. PhotoRec ignores the filesystem and goes after the underlying data, so it'll work even if your media's filesystem is severely damaged or formatted. PhotoRec is safe to use, it will never attempt to write to the drive or memory support you are about to recover lost data from. Another interesting feature is that this tool is portable, i.e. it doesn't need to be installed and can run from any folder and also from a USB memory stick.
