Anyone know if its illegal to Download a different languaged Windows OS and use the Product Key that i have to install it. IF its all good, any one know where i can find one.. All the torrents i find are cracked and hacked version. I don;t want them. i have genuine Key just my CD is the wrong language
Should be ok. It's the license Microsoft really cares about, not the CD itself. If you have a Demonoid account, you could check there. Even if it's cracked, you should be able to reactivate it with your original product key. Alternatively, if you have an Ultimate license, you could install the appropriate language pack ultimate addon, and I think that should let you change the language to what you need. Haven't tried this myself, but I'm pretty sure that's what they do.
Well i have Home Basic and i looked into LIPs but they don;t work.. My OS is chinese and it only allows for Local asian language patches.. Id need to Download a HOmebasic ISO.. Secondproblem is found, after a little research my Licence is actually OEM.. which i didn;t know at the time of purchase.. Any legal ways around this
Having an OEM license shouldn't be an issue. I've reinstalled from an all-in-one ISO before and then changed the product key back to the OEM key that came with my laptop, and haven't had any issues with it. Finding a localized Home Basic ISO might be a bit tricky though. A quick search on demonoid doesn't turn up any results for vista in Chinese, so I'm not sure I could be of assistance there. Maybe it'd be possible to request a localized Home Basic disc from Microsoft? Since you do have a valid license, you might be able to get one. Give it a shot and see what happens. Worst that could happenis they deny it for whatever reason.
I doubt that you can simply buy Vista from any country and then use that license for a different version. If it were that easy, then everyone would buy software from China because it's cheaper there (http://www.pcworld.com/article/135463/microsoft_cuts_vista_price_to_66_in_china.html). The price listed in the link is for a retail version, but I would guess an OEM version would be cheaper as well. Finally, to make sure I'm reading your question correctly, is the following statement correct? You have a Chinese version of Vista and you want it in English?
Oh man, I totally read that wrong, didn't I? I thought he wanted it the other way around. My bad. Anyway, I'll give downloading a different language version and installing it with my English product key a shot tonight to see if it can be done, moreso with an OEM license key. Edit: Sorry, the only copy I found with other languages available by default that fits these criteria is taking forever. It might be a while.
