Avast also works. And it's free. You just have to register once every 11 months (also free).

As does AVG Free, although they had a problem with Vista RC2. They usually fix problems pretty quickly. I haven't checked whether that's been solved.

Both of those are excellent Virus Scanning software. Every bit as effective as the pricy commercial products.

All info, have been great.Thanks. I think Microsoft should warn everyone that this new OS will cause your most important softwares not to work. Thanks again for help. Much appreciated.

they never had to warn people before. think of windows 98 to 2000, and then to XP. it's up to software companies to make sure their software is compatible with an OS, not the other way around.

I think windows vista is a crap OS as it is, as long as microsoft keep building on windows, they wont get anywhere, i think that they should start a fresh new edition after windows and make it really good, not saying they should move away from windows, but start building the new windows from scratch, instead of using a previous system and building on it.

MS has grown too big and fat to ever create something genius again, in this poster's opinion. only someone new can continue the progression. support linux! XD
