moved to correct forum. what is the boot sequence in the bios? what is the make & model# of the motherboard or computer?
boot sequence 1st boot > cdrom 2nd boot hdd 3rd boot removable 4th boot hdd model # M2A-VM ASUS http://www.howtogeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/setup-did-not-find-any-hard-disk-drives.png
okies.. I see where the problem might be.. this is a board with ide and sata ports. so you will need to make sure the bios is set to actually run the onboard bios ide device driver rather than the sata. XP don't have sata drivers, and that's the most likely cause.. the hardware is telling windoze the drives are sata in ide mode or something so it's addressing the wrong location.. delve into the bios hdd or integrated peripherals settings and there will probably be something like the ahci mode for drives or similar.
being the motherboard sees the drive then it is a setting issue. clear the cmos so it goes back to factory defaults. what are the drives jumpered as as in master, slave or cable select?
clear the cmos ? take battery out ? and in bios drive shows up as slave but windows should still see it
read your motherboard manual or computer guide on how to clear the cmos. if the hd is slave the what is master?
yep. i have one in this pc atm and the 40 gb ..checkdiskran on start up and i cant even view it under my computer. it shows up as drive but cant view it. i think its good for a paper weight now !!!!!!!! will check the other one later the 200gb btw ddp cleared the cmos then updated the bios to the newest verison through the bios with usb
