    Ok so heres the basics.

Recently upgraded my entire computer, and got an intel dual core processor in the process.
Now, I was led to believe that in order to make use of this, I needed to run Windows xp x64 as my OS.

THing is windows x64, it seems to me, is the most ridiculous and useless version of windows ive ever experienced, since most things im trying to run encounter problems

My question is basically, if I revert to classic Windows XP Pro, will I be sacrificing the processors capabilities, and thus have wasted money/time, or can I run windows XP Pro at lightning speeds just as well,

Please help me out, im getting severely depressed!!!

    Thanks for your time.

Just revert back to XP Pro.
It will be running faster than the x64.
You will probably lose some minimal extra functionalities that came with x64, but nothing that you can't live without.
Whoever told you that you needed x64 for the optimal results with that CPU needs to have his head examined *or bashed in*, because those dual cores work fine on normal versions of XP.
