ok... so i want my xp server to run dhcp for my home network and i set it up using the "set up a home network" that is in my network connections. but i cant access the internet on my other computer. (layout) DSL Modem-------My Server-----Main Computer | | | Xbox is there something i didnt do or a setting that needs changed. thanks
try this {-------------main pc {----------------------server {--------empty {------------------xbox\ and just find ur server on the network
no what i am trying to do is use my server to split internet through my room for a server an xbox and a computer
use a router after the dsl modem & before the computer & xbox. does that modem have both usb & ethernet connections that you are trying to access at the same time as it won't work? has to be either usb or ethernet not both.
Let the DSL modem be the DHCP server as it is also the Gateway! Get a cheap switch... Plug each individual unit into this via Cat 5 cable and they will all talk happily!
no no no...Qwest is stupid... i need some dumb password to set up a network... i want my server to split it up... so i dont have to pay qwest to set up my network...
