My old computer when I'm installing windows XP, it'll give me blue screen errors or it'll just randomly stop installing Windows, usually this happens while it's installing start menu items and all of that, somtimes it'll give a STOP Error, or I'll get like some NTLDR/NTFS error I've reformatted the hard drive and stuff, I've tried a million things, just bleh, I'm running out of knowledge and getting a brain overload :\ My bro deleted the system32 files cause he's a dumbass and doesn't know anything about computers, so far I've had it just sitting there since the beginning of summer, I can't fix it, I've tried but nothing. so yeah, maybe the Windows XP disc is corrupted? or the hard drive took a dump, one or the other Please reply back with some hopefully good information that'll solve my problem. I've read something to where I need to run a slave drive or something? (I have no idea how to do that.)
OK, well it's not the disc. It has to be either the ram or hard drive, and sadly I don't have any ram lying around so I will have to purchase some, I've only got a 1g stick and 512mb stick, but I dont know if they'll fit in DDR2?..
I've seen the same problem with RAM. Try running memtest86 from the following website and test your memory. http://www.memtest86.com/download.html If you get any errors, then this is most likely the cause of your problems.
