new to this forum, so please bear with me. wife's XP E Machine internet connection does not work. Tech support can't find the problem. PC geek-buddy i know says it may be the ethernet driver. OK, OK, i know i STILL have dial-up, but i keep getting error message saying 'cannot detect...'. Any ideas?

Its cool, first of all dont freak out about what to do.

    Go to start/run/cmd

    type in

    netsh

    int

    reset all

and that will reset all your winsock(network matrix) options,

then run the usual scandisk, and spyware scan, and try it from there.

Also check all cables, and devices you are connecting to.

    Hope i could help
