I am trying to setup a wireless network with a desktop, laptop and adsl gateway. I can get my desktop to access the internet through the gateway using the plugin ethernet point on the back. I can't get my laptop to access the internet yet I can access the gateway by mean of pinging it. I also can't communicate from laptop to computer through the gateway. Any help please

    Update:

I have managed to get my laptop to access the internet through the gateway now. All I had to do was setup my dns address to the same as the gateway. This is really what I was most looking to do although I still don't know how to share files. I have a network setup but my computers still don't reconise each other under my network places. What am I doing wrong

Think you may need more hardware to send files from one pc to the other. Just set up a wireless here three pc's The instructions were simple enough. need another piece of the puszzle to transfer files I think. Check out the home page of your brand of equipment.

MS windowsXP will help you out as well set up network on main pc start - control panel - Network Setup Wizard
MS will give you the option to make a floppy to take to the other pc's to set them up. goog luck

I have all the hardware that is required
My adsl gateway is a linksys wag54g which is connected to my PC with a wired CAT 5 cable. My laptop has a wireless notebook adaptor. Both can access the gatewasy and they both have access to the internet. I just can't get them to communicate with each other.

I have used a crossover cable before which worked fine. I just can't get them to connect wireless.

    Anyone.
    Thanks

Do you have winXP? Network Setup Wizard gives you an option to share files in your network. Did you try that?

All my sharing was already setup as I had used that before using my crossover cable and I could transfer files back and forward between comps.
