It appears that all discussions in AfterDawn are about existing products. How about a "Wish List" topic? I'm sure manufacturers would listen, if they are not already developing these ideas. Recently I bought my first DVD recorder. As others have stated in AfterDawn, I also now realize that DVD recorders have certain shortcomings when compared to VCRs! The first shortcoming is complexity. Any VHS tape will work in any VCR--not true with DVDs and DVD recorders! Before I bought the DVD recorder I bought a DVR. I got spoiled by the "flip back a few seconds" and "flip forward a few seconds" features and am disappointed that DVD recorders don't have these features. Another feature I expected, since both media are digital, was for the DVD recorder to record the Program Information (title, description, actors, guests, etc.) from the DVR. Also, it would be nice to be able batch all the programs from the DVR to be recorded onto a DVD disc before beginning the recording. Then you wouldn't have to baby sit write-once discs. I guess this feature would actually have to be built into the DVR. Along with batch recording, how about the option of high speed recording? I am finding it hard to find time to transfer the programs from the DVR hard drive to the DVD recorder since we want to spend all our TV time watching current programs! Bob
