Dear Sages, I do not know exactly how long but when I try to play DVD WMP11 will open then get message problem has caused to close and will be notified if solution found. Below is from problem submitted: Problem signature Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: wmplayer.exe Application Version: 11.0.6001.7000 Application Timestamp: 47919356 Fault Module Name: msmpeg2adec.dll Fault Module Version: 11.0.6001.7000 Fault Module Timestamp: 4791a771 Exception Code: c00000fd Exception Offset: 0000c8e2 OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: fd00 Additional Information 2: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160 Additional Information 3: fd00 Additional Information 4: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160 Same Fault Module Name listed when DVD Maker or Media Center also close which is also happening. I can play DVD from downloaded Media Player Classic. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks for any suggestions, Doc
Does WMP 11 play all other media files OK? What does DecCheck say about the mpeg decoders? http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...AC-0AB6-4990-943D-627E6ADE9FCB&displaylang=en
Your reply is much appreciated-Thank you! I downloaded flv file and converted to mpeg file and tried to play in WMP. Tried to play but mostly pixilation with normal sound. I ran DECCheck: Installed mpeg-2 Decoders: Microsoft MPEG-2 Video Decoder msmpeg2vdec.dll 11.0.6001.7000 Red X at left of entry Green check mark to right of version number CBVA DMO wrapper filter cbva.dll 6.0.6001.18000 Red X at left, red X to right of version number I am assuming this checker works with Vista even though download page stated for XP. Thanks, Bob
Hello - I'm still not clear if you are saying ONLY DVD playing causes the crash or ANY media will cause the crash. For example, if you play avi or wmv files, do they work? The deccheck only really shows that neither of the codecs are fit for WMP 10 synchronization feature. This may not be relevant, since Vista is using it's built-in decoder. Perhaps you should open up the Event Viewer and look at application and system messages for errors related to this crash. You may be able to get further information in there. You can open the event viewer by opening up the run box (windows key+r) and typing eventvwr.msc (press enter).
Thanks for your reply. WMP is able to play avi and wmv files without problem. Event viewer only showed under errors related to Media Center: Log Name: Media Center Source: MCUpdate Date: 7/11/2008 10:37:43 AM Event ID: 0 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: Robert-PC Description: DownloadPackgeTask.SubTasksComplete: failed downloading package SportsSchedule. Event Xml: <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="MCUpdate" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">0</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2008-07-11T17:37:43.000Z" /> <EventRecordID>4477</EventRecordID> <Channel>Media Center</Channel> <Computer>Robert-PC</Computer> <Security /> </System> <EventData> <Data>DownloadPackgeTask.SubTasksComplete: failed downloading package SportsSchedule.</Data> </EventData> </Event> Real eye opener how many things are logged in event viewer though. There was cdrom error that when submitted to technet stated possible cable disconnect but am able to play DVD using Media Player Classic so that is not the case.
