The video file is stored in *.wmv format and then it was encoded into .mpg using NERO. But the video (.mpg) is not as clear as before (like *.wmv). Why? Could anyone help me?
Well first of all, nero is a crap encoder and second of all it would depends on the birate, the resolution of the source and output file
Everytime you do a video conversion there will always be a loss in quality. If the quality of the video is excellent before converting it to another format then the resulting file will be pretty good as well. If its crap you end up with crap.
I think Dela was referring to Nero's inferiority in encoding movies and not burning. Nero is probably one of the best burning programs out there, as to its encoding capability, well there are so many posts with people who have various problems when using nero to encode their videos that its safe to say that what Dela says is a fact and that is...
exactly, I would trust it burning VCD but not SVCD!! I would never trust any form of encoding from it though!
Try using STOIK. Convert it to an AVI format first, then experiment with Virtual-Dub and see what you can do. If the bitrate of the WMV was low to begin with, there's not a whole lot you can do to improve it. Like powerdup said "If its crap you end up with crap."
