Hi WMV = Windows Media Video

Will play fine in Media player, compact size and used a lot for streaming media.
I personally hate the format, but each to their own.

    Cheers.

Not really sure, maybe the files are corrupt?
try using media player classic to play them, it plays just about everything :))
Or try using gspot to see which codecs are actually used, to see if it is a true wmv.

    Hope it helps.
    Cheers
