I have some wmv files I want to open and use on my mac and put into a video I am making. I am VERY new to mac so please bear with me if this is a stupid?. I would prefer to do this for free also if possible any Ideas?? thanks kurt
I have four suggestions: 1. Install Perian http://perian.org/ 2. Install the Flip4Mac WMV Player: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx 3. If you are not satisfied and want greater Quicktime compatibility with various media types, search Google for "130 Quicktime codecs" (no quotes)--download and install them. 4. Download VLC media player. It's an alternative to Quicktime. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ Enjoy
It seems that you also want to edit and work with your video files. Your best free options in this respect are iMovie HD and iMovie '08. Convert your WMV files into an iMovie compatible format with: 1. MPEG Streamclip: http://www.squared5.com/ or 2. ffmpegX http://homepage.mac.com/major4/
David Thank You!!! I did find one from www.erightsoft.net/home.html called Super C it worked for what I needed. I am going to bookmark your answers as I have had this mac a few months (used G5) I dont have ilife 08 but I do have ilife 04,and final cut. I am trying to learn the mac/pc difference, run final cut, work 8-10hrs and raise 5 kids, needless to say the computer learning is going very slow. Kurt
