word proccessing

I am looking for an OCR app that will allow me to scan a document INTO it, convert the text into an appropriate format that my word proccessor can use and then export it INTO the processor for editing. I use OPEN OFFICE. I am willing to use a different app if needed. none of the OCR apps I have seen do what I need for any number of reasons. is there an OCR extention I can add to OO? a processor that has built in OCR? advice please.
