I am an actor with a number of my films on multiple DVDs. I want to take some of my best scenes from these films and edit them to make my performances stand out (i.e., cut some parts of each of the scenes). I then want to create a DVD with all of my scenes on it and a few extras like a copy of my resume, headshots, bio, etc I found where the scenes are on the DVDs but they are .Vob files. My editing programs (Pinnacle Studio 8, Arcsoft) only edit MPEG, MPEG2, AVI files. I am soon buying Adobe Premier Pro and I assume it has the same limitations. Should I convert the scenes from .vob to Mpeg, Mpeg2, or AVI then edit them? If so, how? OR Is there a way to edit the .VOB files (and if so, is it better than editing them as mpeg2s or mpegs?) then make my own DVD from those. If so, how? The quality of the picture and audio is of UTMOST importance. I know that there are a number of threads similar to this subject. However, they all seem to lose technical jargon that completely baffles me, since I am a self-proclaimed computer retard. Thank you all, in advance, for your help. Nick
The simplest way to do this would be to use DVDshrink (freeware) which can chop bits out of movies using the start and end points option. Do this for all the bits you want and you will be left with lots of VOBs. (I recommend stripping out all the extra sound tracks etc before working on these VOBs) You can then join these together with VOBedit and use IFOedit to create new IFOs. However you probably want a menu and chapter points that coincide with the scene changes so you need to create one for the new VOBs and with links to the head shots and resumes etc. DVDlab will do this for you (among others) The created DVD will be of the same quality as the originals so no worries there. The only problem you might have is if the clips are different resolutions (ie some PAL and some NTSC). You will have to search for how to do the bits outlined above (as putting details here would result in the worlds longest post) but it can all be done quite easily. PS have you been in anything we will have heard of?
