Im planning on getting a 1080i/720p samsung 32".
I was thinking if i would lose any quality from a blue-ray game or film by watching the blue-ray on a 1080i tv?
Do you guys think its worth waiting until christmas then buy a 40" 1080p tv because there might be a price drop??

Even at the 50" plasma size and up, you would be "HARD PRESSED" to see much if any difference.

I see a huge difference on my XBR3 40inch @ 1080p vs 720p. My viewing distance is only about 5 feet.

1080i vs 1080p though is basically zero difference if you have a quality TV that can deinterlace the 1080i signal. 1080p was basically marketing spin. All fixed panel TVs are progressive.

This 1080p - 1080i - 720p controversy is getting old. Favorite questions seem to be: "does 1080i make a difference over 1080p?" or "is 720p better than 1080i?"

My advice - just get a 1080p TV, a 1080p Hi Def DVD player, and connect the two with a HDMI cable. Makes life simple, and answers all the questions ...

I don't think this is a 1080i or 1080p thing as the tv will be a 720p display "capable of displaying 1080i content" because all digital tv's native resolution is progressive. On a 32 inch so won't see the difference. As for waiting I think it would be a good choice considering the price drop and the fact that you will get a larger tv.
