I have a DVD recorder and record shows on a DVD+RW (can erase later after viewed) My problem is if I like it and want to copy the show to a regular DVD..(not RW)nothing will read the files. It plays back OK but when I try to copy it I ger an error. I've tried all programs to copy it or back it up. The error is this: cannot read E:\....data error...(cyclic redundancy check). I've tried Nero, Shrink, Cole and others. Any answers to my problem please....ed
data error...(cyclic redundancy check) is just that a data error. A standalone player will ignore a small error and just keep on going. You may have used the RW too many times or have scratches. Or it may be the media itself that is lacking. Also
OK, are you saying the reason I cannot back-up my DVD-RW disk is because of it being recorded from TV. If this is what you are saying....why can I copy an DVD+R, with no problems. Are you saying my sofftware is oudated, I've tried Shrink, Nero, Clone DVD, Decrypter, ...none of them will read the RW disc....but if I record it on a DVD+R, it can be read and easily encoded or copied. Perhaps because the +RW is finalized...I'm not sure what you are telling me to do here? Dummy me... I do format disks where they should be formatted, and never get them mixed up. thanks...eds You see my actual problem is that I cannot copy my DVD+RW discs. They will not copy, always get the error as stated in my first post. I like to record from my DVD recorder to the re-writeables so if I like the movie I can then copy it to a DVD to watch later and the use my DVD-RW disc for the next show.
I mis-understood.My remarks were referring to DVD-RW, which have CPRM protection. As I understand it the +RW have no problem, so I will edit my previous response to reflect.
What file format is the recorder putting on the disc. Can you open the file on your PC. edit Which are you using -rw or +rw? what is the model of the recorder?
The recorder makes a video_TS folder but it will not copy or read it if recorded on a DVD+RW. It will read ithe recorded disc if I use a DVD+R only. It's the re-writeable that I can not copy using Nero or anything else.
I take it that if you author a movie to a DVD+RW on the PC that there is no problem;it's related to the recorder only?
Everything is getting mixed up maybe from me. I am older and not good at explaining things..My problem: I have a DVD recorder and I will tape shows and watch them later, then erase them and use the DVD+RW again. Now if I think the movie is good my daughter will want to see it so I need to make a copy from my PC to give to her. Any DVD+RW that I have recorded on will copyno matter which way I try, I keep getting that error as I posted. I can copy any DVD+R disks with no problem but once I use them if the movie or show was no good...the disc is garbage, this is why I want to use DVD+RW's. ...ed
Ed.. are you finalising the r-w disks before you attempt to copy them.. I suggest this because I forgot to do this and found the resulting disks were unplayable on anything but the standalone recorder. My burner is unable to finalise the disks because they have been recorded in sequential track mode,(whatever that means) which my burner does not support, and also cannot play them. (they cause a fatal drive lockup and I have to power down and manually eject them) Just a thought.. try finalising them and adding a menu/title in the recorder. If this has nothing to do with the problem then I don't know.. It's just something I have found by messing up a couple of vcr to dvd-r transfers at work. I have some cheap and nasty dvd+rw disks here, but no access to a standalone dvd recorder until Friday.. If this isn't solved by then I suppose I can waste some time (skiving off again) and experiment in the shop...
TT 1620...Trutech is the DVD Recorder In reply to above...you cannot finalize a DVD+RW, only the DVD+R discs....thanks...
If the DVD-RW can't be finalized then it is unplayable in a PC or other DVD player and cannot be copied. I couldn't find a manual online, but I don't see anything here that says DVD-RW cannot be finalized. http://www.videohelp.com/dvdrecorde...er=&dvdtv=&orderby=Name&hits=50&Search=Search
I will look it up in my manual, but finalized means you can no longer write to your DVD so it only makes sense you could not finalize a re-writeable to me, maybe I'm wrong. The option is not even available to do on a re-writeable on my recorder only the DVD+R's
True, once it's finalized you can't write to it on the recorder. It doesn't imply that the disk will not be reusable after it gets erased. It's only when the disk IS finalized that it can be played on a PC or other player.
