Hello Afterdawners : ) I'm new to the forum so please go easy on me. Having spent an hour or so reading many posts on this forum, I was wondering if one of you would be kind enough to give me some advice. I currently have a Plextor CD-RW and a Pioneer DVD-RW - however, I've been having problems with both recently and therefore decided it's time to upgrade I would absolutely love the ability to play DVD-RAM discs on my PC that have been recorded on our Panasonic DVD Recorder. (Those of you with wives who record every soap opera on TV will know how hard it is to `book a slot` in the lounge of an evening ) I'm also keen to utilise the spare SATA slots on my motherboard, as well as the ability to burn Dual Layer DVD's. So, which drives do I go for ? Two models have caught my eye...namely the Lite-ON LH-20A1S-11C (SATA) and the Pioneer DVR-112 (IDE). Would it be a good idea to get two of one or one of each for maximum compatibility ? Your thoughts / tips / advice would be gratefully welcomed.
first make sure you have a sata or ide connector on you motherboard if you liked the pioneer drive that you had i would go with the Pioneer DVR-112 i know that there drives are good to burn backups and things like that you can check http://www.cdfreaks.com/reviews/Pioneer-DVR-112-DVD-Burner-Review i hope i helped
really cant go wrong with either of those drive. Litey pros are the its a sata connection so the cable is small, plus it can booktype(already) without having to flash your drive pioneer just as good as lite-on, only thing i dont like about them is you have to flash different firmware to be able to booktype. you can check this sticky out too if you haven't already http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/485860 welcome to AD
