Hi all, I've got a problem where Nero errors at 94% each time I try to burn a CD-R. I've tried Nero 7 & Nero 8, as well as Deepburner, and the burn always fails at 94%. Interestingly, a CD-RW burning the same data finishes fine. I'm not great with the logs but just a note - what media are you using? hope you are not using the cheapest of discs? it *could* be that simple
Brand-new Verbatim CD-Rs, and I've also tested it with Sony-branded CD-Rs as well. I don't think it's the quality of the media...
sorry I didn't help much the media you are using sounds fine and good that you've tried two different brands. now just wait for someone to properly analyze your log hope that happens soon and you get it resolved just another query the age of your burner and roughly the amount of discs burned?? also have you updated the firmware? the burner website should have the firmware update... goodluck
It came with my Vaio, so as far as I'm aware the only place I can get firmware updates is from Sony, which I'm up to date with. I haven't been able to find anything from Matshita themselves. I only bought the laptop 9-10 months ago, and I don't think I use the burner that heavily, so I would've thought it would last a bit longer, at least...
reno365 I thought someone would have gone over your log by now a rough estimate some people say a burner can burn thousands of discs so it doesn't sound at all like an age or use issue keep trying and perhaps post another log and hopefully an expert will go over it for you perhaps drop the burn speed right down to below 8x if you're prepared to wait other than that I'm stumped I wish someone would jump in and guide you cheers

Sorrow93 - thanks for your help. I've had some success dropping from x24 speed to x16, and on a CD-R it doesn't really take that much longer, but it's still bugging me. I'll play around with it and post another log if it does something else unusual.
I would probably even go down to 12x or 8x just for maximum quality wish I could get it solved for you you are not multi-tasking when burning and/or got the screensaver set or any software that might be interfering with the Nero process?
