I converted an avi file into dvd files with Winavi then I burned the dvd using nero. The DVD will not play on my dvd player for some reason but it will play on my xbox which plays all regions of dvd. Could it be that i made the dvd the wrong region? If so what do I need to do to make region 2 dvd's rather than region 1?
This setting should be available in your authoring application. Just set it to 0 instead of 1 or 2 etc. That should do it.
I just burned another DVD this time i went into advanced settings and set "target format" to pal and still no difference.
'kay. Lets go back to basics. What resolution is the AVI file you have, and what codec was used to create it? If it's a DV-AVI, then you should see a file size of around 13Gb/Hour. If it's a DivX type file, it will be a heck of a lot smaller. If we can work out what type of AVI file you have, and exactly how you are authoring, we may be able to help out here. The Xbox probably supports non DVD type files (I don't really know) but a set top DVD player is going to insist on DVD-Video, correctly formatted & finalized, unless it is one of those players that also plays VCD, SVCD & DivX like the Cambridge Audio DVD89 unit can. How are you authoring the disc? As long as you do not set a region, then it should not add one. PAL or NTSC has nothing to do with Region coding, which is something different again. So - can you take me through the process you used to make te disc?
