I'd like to get a router and I hear very good things about the WRT54GL, but I also see the ASUS WL-520gC which also supports DD-WRT for almost half the price. I was wondering what is the advantage of the WRT54GL over the ASUS or any other router that supports DD-WRT.

    Thanks

I don't know what chipset the Asus router uses, but if Asus had anything to do with its construction, probably means it's rather low quality. The WRT54GL is a known solid workhorse router, and supports all sorts of custom firmware like DD-WRT or Tomato. I personally would stick with the WRT54GL.
