I noticed that shortly after installing my mod my X-Box will sometimes freeze. This happens most often if im using xcommander but sometimes it will happen on games most often shortly after they have been started. I havent worked out a pattern yet but I think all the software it loading from HD though I wouldnt swear to it not happening on DVD, I just dont often boot from disk. Anyway, its not a major problem and the rest of the time including after a reboot (usually just hitting eject will do fine) it will work but I was just wondering if this was an issue with my soldering of the mod as im not very skilled with a soldering iron and didnt clean the LPC contacts before soldering the pin header onto it. I am reluctant to do anything as most of the time the X-Box is fine and it ALWAYS boots to the BIOS, its just the random freezing thats annoying.
yo, yea some times that happens to me too, i clean the lpc points real good though so im not exactly sure what it is. Mine doesnt do it often but ive noticed the first time i boot up and try to play a system link game on halo it does it, when i restart and try again it is fine. dont really know what to make of it
That happened to me too, I think that is a small price to pay for having our xbox modded. I have a Matrix, which modchip do you have?
I have a cheapmod so maybe its just an issue with this type of chip? (same as the Matrix) Anyway like you said, its a small price to pay I just wanted to be sure I hadnt done something that would eventually ruin my box.
i have a matrix also, and i agree but one thing that may slow your xbox down is not defragin it. anyone know how to do this without takin your pc apart and xbox and interchangin cords? there has to be a program.
I doubt the X-Box needs defragging as it doesnt access the same way a PC would. It might make the games load a little slower but thats still likely to be faster than from the original DVD so not such a problem. Used as a normal X-Box it definately isnt an issue as the only places that change files frequently are also frequently wiped (the cache partitions). Anyway, slowdown isnt an issue im aware of - its a complete lockup requiring a reboot or power down that is the issue here.
