Ok i have been looking around for chips lately and have decided to go with the X3 chip. Now the problem is that i dont completely understand the tuts that are out about flashing the bios. Can somebody please give me a better explanation as to how i flash the bios. I can get the chip installed, but do i need to make a CD to flash the bios with or is there a way just to FTP? After i flash the bios then i am set to just plug in the HDD after i copy the folders from original drive back over to the new one......correct?

Is there a way to install i HDD with only softmods? The tuts that i have seen require having Nero or some kind of CD burner.....is that necessary or will a regular old Cd burner not work?

Also if i just get the chip for now and install it without the bios, will i still be able to play games and stuff untill i get around to flashing the bios and getting a new HDD?

    Any help is appreciated guys

    Thanks

yes you can flash the bios using ftp just to go http://wwww.teamxecuter.com they have a turorial for it there.....

and yes you can install a larger hdd on a softmodded xbox you have to use xbox Hard Drive manager(xbox HDM).

the chip with no bios will not load any back-ups you have to flash the chip with the hacked bios...

if you install the Xecuter 3 ce without flashing the bios, all you will get when booting up with the chip enabled is a blue screen of information regarding the cromwell bios.

YES, you will have to flash the bios with the latest bios version of 3294 (download from #xbins MIRC)

You can flash the bios using http method. All you need is router, computer, and xbox all connect to the router.

Just follow the instructions on the tutorial from theridges' response.

So, if you want to use a new hard drive or play legal backups, then the bios flash is neccessary.

    Cheers,

tomkat: You need to flash your bios, check out this tutorial: http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/xbins.php

Download yourself a copy of Mirc from www.mIRC.com and follow the instructions.

You need to get a bios compatible with your XBOX version, otherwise your system will not boot. So determine what xbox version you have and then get the appropriate bios that matches.

If you guys have any questions about modding, flashing or anything do not hesitate to post more questions or PM me.

Jimmy42 Thanks for the reply. I did find "X3 3294" & "X3 3294 v16plus" Can you point me in any into direction on how to flash from a dvd or a cd and do I need to burn a dashboard on to the same cd? I think i checked out the one from team executer and the pictures wouldn't load. I followed the directions and burnt a cd and a dvd-r and I don't think I had any luck loading it on to the xbox. I got a little confused. BTW I installed an executer 3 CE modchip as per the instruction and when i power up the xbox it still boots like there was no mod chip installed & the LED on the the front comes on red no matter how long I hold the power button in.
    Thanks dude.

First of all I have to commend you on the choice of Mod Chips, the X3ce is IMHO by far the best most flexable Mod Chip out there.
First off you need to see that blue Flashbios screen, if you don't you fucked up with your soldering. Second, NEVER FLASH ANYTHING over a wireless connection, hardwire that bitch to the router.Assuming everything is ok, just make sure you have the bios you need(3294)and the Dips are set to 1 mb bank 1 than using internet explorer, just type in the IP of your XBOX should be listed on the blue screen, it should come up with update Bios over ftp on some such shit, upload the bios you need and bam the xbox should shut off when done(do not do ANYTHING when this is happening), turn it back on and see if 3294 comes up. if so you are cool, and if you are a bit ANAL you could switch to the other 1 mb bank(with the dip switches) and flash that too with 3294 and also flash the Flashbios bank with the newer flashbios

P.S. What the fusk happened to Xcuter site, it's telling me the domain expired, and WTF is up with 3295, they promised us some kool new shit and it looks like all they care about now is the unhackable 360, so they dropped the project.

Theridges thanks for the heads up on the different versions of the bios. When I burn the dvd-r i'll just leave off the x3 3294 and rename the x 3294 v16plus to "bios.bin". I'll give this a try after work and after I troubleshoot my dvd burner i'm getting a power calibration error in nero while burnning the disk, should be a simple fix just haven't had the time to look into it yet.
My other point in the previous note was that I'm not seeing a blue flashscreen, the box boot like it off the shelf. I'm 100% confident in my soldering job, I'v been soldering for 15 plus years, but I've solved that problem it was with the dip switch setting. I had 1, 2 on and 3,4,5 off (boots off the shelf) with switch 2 on and 1, 3, 4, 5, off I get the blue flash bios screen now. Janrocks is a pretty smart chic. BTW I have to flash via disk, no router or crossover cable. I'll triple check the disk burning guide from team-executer above. thanks guyys for your help.

Time for the dashboard. Finally flash the bios, after going through 15 badly burned dvd-r and about 5 cd-r. Was able to flash with a router, which is soo simple only took a coiuple of hours reading and some trial and error. Sweet success was finally mine. Just wanted to leave a reply to maybe help someone else from the lessions I learned. The big thing that had me stumped was that after installing the X2CE mod, when trying to boot to the (blue) FlashBios screen, I would get just a blank (black) screen (dip switch on,on,off, off, off).
changed the switch settings to off,on,off, off, off bot up to the blue screen then change my switch settings back to on,on,off, off, off. just something that might help someone flash when getting a blank screen. Now on to the Dashboard.

hello, I have the same problem as a lot of people do apparently, can't get x3 ce chip to flash, after it going through the flash process by dvd, it shuts off like it is supposed to, but then when you turn it back on, it tries to power up, but shuts off as fast as it came on, the protection is disabled even though now on bank 1 it says read only when the flashbios screen appears, but you can only get there by pushing power and eject to go to backup bios, I tried doing the network connection thing, but when I hit http on flash bios it says no link established
