xbc v2.9 error at start up?

I am getting an error message at start up with xbc v 2.9. this is it:

Action: read DMI Sector
Sense error 5/30/02
CDB Read DVD Structure
0XAD 00 00 00 00 00 00 04 08 04 00 00

I click ok and xbc starts up as usual.

when it starts to read the xdvdfs file it times out and fails to respond.

I just ran xbc again just now to get a log to post but it started up without the error. has anyone seen this before?

dvd rom is SH-D162D with kreon firmware V 1.00

Doh! i'm not sure what the error is about but I found the reason for the freeze up. the disc is scratched. Just got it from gamestop used, damn it. I'd still like to know what the error message at start up is if anyone knows. thanks.
