Hello. I've never tried using XBMC until now. I've been using evox dash. I ftped XBMC over to my xbox (e:\apps\xmbc) and it works fine, Except I cannot, For the life of me, Get the weather part to work. The IP and all is set up correctly on XBMC, But when I goto the weather part and try to put in my zipcode, It just goes back to the one that was there (Doesnt change at all). FTPing works fine, But if I want to do internet stuff on my box, It wont work. Am I doing something wrong?
try putting your city name in the search,it should bring up you city and then just select it from there.
Ok, I tried that, But looking at the xbmc.log file, I see this: 11-06-2005 01:28:17 ERROR Unable to connect to xoap.weather.com: 10049 11-06-2005 01:28:17 ERROR WEATHER: Weather download failed! 11-06-2005 01:28:17 ERROR Unable to connect to www.xbox-scene.com: 10049 11-06-2005 01:28:17 ERROR Unable to connect to www.xbox-scene.com: 10049 11-06-2005 01:28:17 ERROR Unable to connect to www.xbox-scene.com: 10049 11-06-2005 01:28:18 NOTICE Start LED Control 11-06-2005 01:28:18 NOTICE Dim LCD On Playback 11-06-2005 01:28:20 NOTICE Start LED Control 11-06-2005 01:28:20 NOTICE Dim LCD On Playback 11-06-2005 01:28:51 ERROR Unable to connect to xoap.weather.com: 10049 11-06-2005 01:29:19 ERROR Unable to connect to xoap.weather.com: 10049 11-06-2005 01:35:26 ERROR Unable to connect to shoutcast.com: 10049 11-06-2005 01:35:28 ERROR Unable to download playlistfile from shoutcast 11-06-2005 01:35:33 ERROR Unable to connect to shoutcast.com: 10049 11-06-2005 01:35:34 ERROR Unable to download playlistfile from shoutcast Static IP IP: 192.168.0.3 Subnet: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.0.1 DNS: 0.0.0.0 (I tried this w/ my ISP dns #s, As someone told me to try, But still wouldnt work). Evox.ini is the same thing as above, So is the xenium ice net setup. Nic is connected correctly, I can ftp from xenium, evox and xbmc. All I see in the Weather zipcode is: Code 1:UXXX0085 Code 2:NLXX0002 Code 3:CAXX0343 And I cannot change them at all.
If your xbox is hooked up to a second NIC on your PC,go into your control panel on your pc and get to the network connections. Make sure that the one that connects your pc to your modem is 'sharing' the connection with the other NIC. Otherwise you won't be able to get online with your xbox. Once this is done, you can then switch your xbox to DHCP (non static IP) and it should be able to get online. If you wanna ftp to your xbox, you will just have to use the IP that is displayed on your xbox (most likely on the dashboard). Give that a try and see what happens
Sorry, But could you tell me exacttly where to find that? I'm using XP. I open Network Connections, See: Local Area Connection (PC) Xbox Connection (What I named it) I highlight the Local Area Connection and goto properties. Hehe Thats about as far as I know what to do.
k well once you're at your NIC connections in your control panel on the pc right click it and at the top there should be a tab named 'advanced' click that and then there should be this window Now click both white radio buttons....(the white things) so it looks like this Now just click OK and exit these windows...your connection should now be shared. Now go into your xbmc and into the network settings and change the IP to DHCP (non static) Now if you goto your main screen you should have the RSS feed and the weather (if configured properly) If you want to ftp to your xbox, all you have to do is go into network settings and see what the IP is and use that in flash fxp. I think the default IP for this setting is 192.168.0.4,but I might be wrong. I hope this clears it up a bit for you.
Ok, I done that and it works, Thanx. On XBMC, I can now put in my zipcode, I see the RSS feeds, But on the System Info/Network, It says: Internet: XBOX is not connected. check network settings. The IP I got was 192.168.0.28 and with that I can ftp. Should I put that into the evox.ini as well or leave it as 03?
Here's another cool thing for when you have your pc networked to your xbox. If you have it on xbmc and have webserver enabled, all you do is open your browser and type in 'http://xbox IP'. So if your xbox IP is 192.168.0.4,you type in "http://192.168.0.4" and this will pop up. You can now control your xbmc from your pc. Kinda cool if you have the xbox hooked up to your stereo and you wanna run the tunes while you're on your pc. Just a cool little thing to do,nuthin special. PS-sorry for the size...in a hurry -enjoy
Yeah I saw that. Its all working now, I didnt know I could watch music videos on it. WOW, My wife was like "I thought that was JUST a game console" hehe. Thanx for all your help.
