Thanks for the input. If a lay it Flat can anyone give me some cooling options. I ordered the Xbox 360 Arcade Version but it has not come in yet. Is there a Good Cooler to use with the Xbox when it is Laying Flat? Thanks....
I have tried both ways, I have the Game Stop cooler (which you use vertically) and a laptop cooler. My 360 is a LOT cooler when it is in the vertical position (mine on the GS vertical cooler) than when the GS cooler is on the side and the 360 is laying flat on the cooler. I think if you're careful with the 360, then it won't tip over.
I have looked on the web and even on Game Stop.com and cannot find a Game Stop Cooler? Can you tell me where they are? Thanks,,,,,,,,,
Hey bud, it's not on the site anymore, weird. They have it in the Game Stop stores, made by Pelican and you plug the fan into the USB. I tried everything and again found vertical on the the fan with a desktop fan behind it, kept it cooler.
Keep it flat. The 360 has one of the fastest high speed drives there is. Just moving the console in the slightest will scratch the shit out of your brand new $60 game (personal experience).
I keep it vertical and it stays very cool. I have to say that it is wedged between the TV set and the side of the cabinet so it will not budge unless I move the 130 pound TV set first. I've also moved it with a game in it and trashed a DVD, luckily it was a backup and I was only out $1. Above all, make sure there is plenty of room for air to circulate. This means that you should never put it in any sort of enclosed area (hutch, cubby hole, etc) or you will eventually get the "ring of death". As a test, run the game for a while and feel the air coming out the back in the vertical position, then shut it down and do the same in the horizontal position.
I think it's definitely cooler in the vertical position, but the horizontal is just better so the thing doesn't tip over and F up your disks. One vertical turnover will ruin your disk. Just too big a risk.
you dont have to worry about heat on the xbox 360 arcade because all new 360's use the new 45nm chips. they run WAY WAY cooler! i have an old xbox and a new one and the new 45nm one runs quieter and cooler! you can barely even hear it compared to the old one. for looks, laying it flat looks way cooler. hope this helps
I would put in the vertical position, and use the cooling system which has the controller holders on the sides so it won't tip over, it works great and you can't tip it over easily.
