Long story short, I found a non-modded xbox in a trashpile when moving out of the dorms. Everything seems to work fine, the dvd drive works, and the hd spins but I only get a black screen. I do not get the green microsoft splash. Is there any way to save this xbox?

That is why the owner put it in trash can. Well something happened to mother board. It did not load the bios.

Maybe not. I think it is motherboard problem. Not the bios.

take it to a repair shop and get an estimate.
Even if it costs you $50 to fix it you would still have gotten a great deal.

First off lets look at it in more detail.

When plugged in and hooked up to a TV, when you turn it on is there any sound?

Also what does the Eject lights do? Stay green? Flash, if so what colors?

More info can help you out alot.
