Ok, against my better judgement, I decided to monkey with my dvd-rom drive as outlined in this guide: http://users.skynet.be/bk231905/tutorials/pdf/Xbox-Thompson-DVD-drive-laser-adjustment-procedure.pdf I tried adjusting the screw as they suggest, but I couldn't get it to work right. I adjusted back to its original setting, and it now doesn't work at all. I get "This is not an Xbox disc blah blah blah." All the cables are plugged in properly, and I have no idea what I have done wrong. This is pretty much my last question before buying a used/broken xbox to replace my dvd-rom. Any help would be appreciated. If this is a redux, sorry. If the answer is "no, you're fucked" I will not be surprised nor angered.
did you get your dvd player to read games again, because i did the same thing you did and now it is fucked up. i cannot get it to read again. if so, how did you solve it?
