What are the advantages of using winrar over winzip? Or is that just a preference issue?

winrar lets you split them into smaller archives for greater compression.

most peopl just prefer Winrar. People who download games
from the internet get very familiar with the program as
95% or the games there will be made with Winrar.

You will have several options as to how much you want to compress it, this will determine how many files you end up with.
Like with a normal game i use the zip100 option. this makes every file under 100KB so you end up with between 20-40 files depending on the game ISO size. With Winrar you can also set a password so no one can decompress the files back into an ISO without the password.
