xbox harddrive swap

    I Have 2 xbox's a 1.1 and a 1.6 the HDD for version 1.1 is dead.. the motherboard for version 1.6 is dead.. can i unlock the HDD version 1.6 and relock it to the 1.1 motherboard?

    I am also having the same problem motherbourd fried but hd good i have a soft modded xbox that i would like to put the hd into but dont now how and i dont now what versions my xbox's r. but i do have the E drive back up on my pc.

    Use this as a guide:

    Looking at the larger connector on the Power Supply that goes to the motherboard. You will see two rows of wires. If you only see one row you have a 1.0-1.1 Power Supply.
    If you have two rows of wires look at the empty holes where a wire could go but it is empty. A 1.6 has 4 empty holes and the 4 of them are together forming a square.
    The other version 1.2-1.5 has 5 empty spots where wires could go and they are seperated by other wires (3 empty on one row and 2 on the other row) Again the wires are not grouped together.

    my dead xbox is 1.2 to 1.5 amd the woorking 1 is not sure it only 1 row od power wires all r full but i have both E and C drives backed up

    sorry.. I can't see what the psu connector has to do with replacing a HDD..

    The thing you need is your eeprom.bin file.. it will be in your backed up E: files.

    Then just follow any HDD replacement guide.
