    Okay,

This is kind of a complicated story...

I recently bought an xbox with then intentions of softmodding/upgrading the hdd to 120 gig. Since the xbox had already been on xbox live, I thought I would attempt to take the hdd out of a friend's xbox (which wouldn't turn on due to corrosion on the two prongs where you stick the power cord in), get the eeprom, and put it into xboxhdm for my new hdd. Well, to make a long story (in terms of time spent by me!) short, I tried putting the other stock hdd in, and my power won't turn on; I'm not able to eject to start either.

I tried having the av plugs in as well, and, though I didn't think it could be the reason, rescrewing all of the screws back in. Now it still won't work and I'm completely stumped, so I'm hoping some of you may have some insight that I may have missed, as I'm fairly new to this.

    Thank you!

well, if i read that right, putting an eeprom from another box wont work, each eeprom is matched for the original motherboard and hdd. what you needed to do was get the eeprom from original hdd and put it into xboxhdm to create you new hdd. as for the box not turning on, i really dont know, sounds like a power problem!

    A little update...

For the record, I did not have the power plugged in when I tried to do this. Also, I have tried to use the original hdd, with everything screwed in just like it was prior to the botched attempt, and it still won't boot up...there are no lights that flicker, no noises, absolutely nothing when I press the power button.

If anyone has seen/heard of anything remotely like this, pleaase help!!

    Thanks

I fixed my power issue! Turns out the outlet I was plugged into had flipped the switch downstairs. I have one other question though, should be an easier one. Does any one know if I could upgrade to a 120 gig hdd using the same eeprom, and then switch between the 120 and the stock when I want to use xbox live?
