I have searched everywhere and tried tons of different combinations to try to get this setup to work. I need someone that knows what they are doing's help. This is my set up: Cable Modem TO Wireless Netgear Router To Computer(Upstairs) via regular RJ45 cable Computer(Downstairs) via wireless card I want to connect the Xbox to the Downstairs computer thru the extra eithernet port it has. I have a crossover cable going from this computer to the xbox, but I cannot get the network settings right. (Please don't tell me to just run another standard cable to the xbox from the router. I have it set up and working like this now, but it involves hanging the cable out one window and back in another. I need a solution that does not involve drilling holes in the floor.) Basically I need it to look like this: Cable Modem - Wireless Router - PC via Wireless Card - Xbox via Crossover Cable If anyone has set up thier network like this, please share your settings and how you did it. Thank you everyone.
It may depend on your ISP, I tried to have a set up like this and was on AOL,it bugged me for ages on why it did not work until I phoned xbox live & AOL to find that AOL does not support internet sharing through PC's.Mine had to go direct from a router to the xbox. It maybe the same with yours.
ok here is what u have to do go in to your network connections click on the one that ur xbox will be connected to and make sure these are checked off in the advanced tab allow other network users to connect through this computers internet connection and allow other network users to control or disable the shared internt connection but remeber this had to be the port htta ur xbox is connected to by doing this u can actually connect a router to the computer to feed inet to more computers downstair with our wireless card
