I moded my xbox with the x3 ce chip. got cromwell bios and (yes I know this is dumb, now) unlocked my hard drive. I tried booting a few times and got error 5. I understand I unlocked my hard drive and need to lock it for retail bios to load. I haven't touched my box in about a month. booted it up with out the chip and I'm not getting the error, it just freezes on the xbox logo. If I put the chip in, it tries to boot 3 times then frags. If I boot to the backup bios it shows no video or audio, just solid orange power button. Is my box fried, or is there help?

you need to put modchip back into xbox. and boot up it autoinstaller disk inside DVD drive. Of course, you have already flashed bios for x3.

if the disk loads, let me know

I had soldred it, but I could never get it to boot to cromwell. I went about buying a no solder kit for it. all 5 lights are on. I never got a chance to flash the bios because of my dumb $%& self unlocking the hard drive

Make sure the modchip is ON. if you install it right, you will see "Flash bios 3.0.3" on the TV. Then you are able to flash bios.

I "had" that. that's where I unlocked my hard drive. I can't get back to it. I even have a 2'nd chip that chip won't boot at all, just the 5v light comes on when I try chip #2

    ftp will not work.
Do you see the RESET on X3 modchip. Try to reset it and turn xbox on again. Also try to turn on xbox by hitting the Eject button too. Hopefully, you will see "flash bios 3.03" again.

Try this.. Boot by holding both the power and eject buttons for 3 seconds. That boots the backup flash rom. If it doesn't boot to that check your wiring..In particular the d0 connection.
Then you will need a real xecuter 3 bios not cromwell.

When I boot to backup (power and ejecy, purple x) the power lights flash green and then turn solid orange. If I boot with x3 disabled I get red x then it frezes on xbox logo. I have tried all 256,512,1Mb and 2Mb slots still blue X reboots 3 times and frags. Let me look at the connections again for the d0

I held Power+Eject >1 second to boot from 256k Backup Rom X on front pannel was purple. I then held Power >1 second to X was red and still stuck on xbox screen. I have never seen the front pannel turn yellow for my Xecuter chip
