my xbox doesnt seem to want to load games anymore. i think it keeps overheating but i let it cool of for an hour and it still doesnt work!when i turn it on the green light blinks but no screen comes up. after i let it cool off i try again and it freezes at the Bungee advertisement (on Halo2) so i turn it off and wait. its been doing this for weeks now. when i turn it on sometimes i get lucky and then it loads. can someone help me please!

What does it do without a game in?

Have you modded it in any way?

    Is the fan running?

Sounds like the HDD might have an error on it.(Bad sectors) I would send it in for repair or try modding it so you can get a better look at the HDD.

well my dad says that it might be overheating. its under a shelf on a tv stand so it might not get much air. i pulled it out and set it on the floor and it was working fine but it still doesnt load sometimes.

Do you understand what is the CPU and GPU overheated?

Here is how the overheat found on your xbox.

xbox has been off like 30 mins. Everything inside is cool off. Turn on xbox, it works fine. Then play games. Yes it plays.

After like 5 mins or up to 1 hour, Xbox is freeze and maybe turn off by itself. You can feel heat in the back of xbox too.

    That is overheat problem.

Well if your xbox just turn on and get freezed, that is something else.

it doesnt turn off by itself. sometimes when i let it cool off for a few hours it still wont load. sometimes it wont even open so i can take the game out. when i hit the eject button it keeps blinking but no screen pops up. when i hit the power button it makes a humming/blowing sound and still no screen pops up.

It is hard to say what causes the problem. But you should check the DVD drive first. Maybe it is dying.

Can you still load ms dash? goto settings => parental control, on the game tap, make sure it sets all the way up.

Beside this, there is either DVD drive or HDD problem.

When you open the xbox but leave the cables stay connected, check for loosing cables and turn xbox on. Look for anything abnormal. Feel the heat of the CPU and GPU chips. Listen to hdd if it spins. Also listen to DVD drive too.

Seen this once or twice with a corrupted save.. The most common cause is the bios chip is failing.. not always reading on boot...or..and this is a swine..the gpu chip is dying, seems to be only an issue with the Nvidia..the conexant works for ever.. sometimes running a soldering iron around the contacts under it can work a fix (llamma 04/12)

It's not a good idea to try modding it until it's working properly..
