My Xbox only seems to play +RW dvd movies that i have backed up. I have heard that some Xboxs support +Rs aswell.

My question is: Is there any way i can make mine play both media types or even just +Rs?

    Thanks in advance

do you know which dvdrom you have in your xbox?
you should be able to play -r (they burn faster) i've not come across only playing +rw and nothing else before
and to check your backing up your dvd proper there is a good section of that on this forum it should help you

I have the same problem with mine. I am just trying to use my xbox as a dvd player, playing movies I have created.

Maxell DVD +RWs work with it. Verbatim and Memorex DVD +Rs do not. I have burned the +R three ways. 1) direct copy of the +RW. 2) Original Files to +R and 3) Disc image from +RW to the +R.

My xbox has the Samsung drive if the other thread is correct with the pictures.

Collie, read some guides or something. Yes you need to get chipped to read copied DVD stuff.

I have an XboX v1.0 with the crappy Thompson drive. My one reads DVD-r and CDRW fine.

I would say more on the media quality than the burn speed.
