hi there, need your help on my xbox. my nephews went to my house & spent all day playing my xbox & i think they accidentally put a code & enabled the parental control coz now all of my games wont work coz its says that parental control is active & i've tried a hundred combination and i just cant unlock it and they didnt even know that they locked it so they dont know what code they put in. maybe you can give some advice. thanks in advance!
That happened to me once. I don't know if a button combination exists that disables parental control. I read through the manual and found nothing about password recovery. The settings are saved within system files of the dashboard, unless you delete the particular file that stores those settings you won't be able to disable the parental lock without the password. I was never able to recover the password. So what I did was, I downloaded a MS Dashboard. Deleted the current parental locked dash and replaced it with the clean dash I downloaded. Upon doing so it cleared and restored all system settings. That's what you are going to end up doing if you want to play games rated higher than E.
Do you know about xbox modding? If you don't or do, you will need to backup your eeprom before you attempt to do anything to your xbox. You will first need these items, using them you can mod if you don't want to you don't have to mod but you need to load the installer in order to replace the dash. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/558747 Copy the eeprom before you attempt to replace the ms dash. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/558758
Here is the procedure to reset the parental lock code: 1. From the XBOX dashboard screen, go to settings and then parental control. 2. When prompted for the password, perform the following sequence using the XBOX controller: X, Y, Left Trigger, X. 3. Enter in a new password, or disable parental control entirely.
When I looked for a solution, back in April '06 I stumbled onto this site and learned that the xbox could be modified. Wow, I did all that man ... I didn't know it could be disabled that way. I heard stories about emulators running on xbox but I didn't believe it was possible. I thank god that I locked the parent settings and forgot the code because I would of never known about xbox modding.
