xbox reads dvd but not game

    Hi, my son picked up an original xbox at a yard sale this weekend. It will read and play a dvd but won't read the games. Are there separate lasers? Any ideas on what might be wrong with it?

    I really didn't think there was but I really have no idea what to tell you. What kind of other info would be needed?

    I have no idea if its been tampered with, it does not appear to have been soft modded, how would I know if someone has opened it up and attempted a hard mod?

    What really confuses me is it reads the dvd but not the game.
