I was watching a dvd+r back up made with dvd shrink on my xbox when it suddenly just crapped out, I assumed the dvd was dirty but it was perfect so I tried another also made with dvd shrink and nothing except that it cant read the dvd message. I opened it up and cleaned off any dust on the laser and everything else that looked dirty then turned it back on and still the same thing with those dvd+r’s. the games work normally so I grabbed another dvd+r made with nero out of an avi file and that works fine so I tried another dvd+r made with nero out of an avi file and that also worked but the others made with dvd shrink still don’t even though they always have before. All the DVD+r disk are the same brand and they were all burned using Nero except that it won’t read the ones made with dvd shrink. Also my xbox is supposedly modded but I see no proof of this unless it was a softmod so I don’t know, and it has a Thomson dvd drive. any clues would be greatly appreciated.
Not sure what that problem could be. Mine does better with DVD-R But i have made movie and game back ups on some good quality DVD+R and they worked. Now the TDK DVD+R i never got to work, but the Verbatim worked fine. And i have made plenty of movies with DVD Shrink, although i never use my Nero to burn them because i just do not like it. I also rarely create them as ISO files. I back them up to the PC hard drive into a folder i make as the movie files (Video TS folder) then i take that folder and burn it with CloneDVD2 if you do not mind paying for your back up programs then AnyDVD & CloneDVD2 are a great combo for backing up all your movies.
The format would seem like a bigger issue if that very disk hadn't worked fine for the last year, and the way it just crapped out in the middle of the movie was strange. but hey it's microsoft what can I say.
