my son put an xececuter3ce chip in and loaded the wrong bios 301 instead of 303 older xbox. during the process the cd stopped working and now it has a orange-red flash led before going green. from this point it is frozen. what can i do to resolve my issues?
i was going to reflash my bios after which i purchased a crosslink ethernet cable but the xbox won't communicate. i have the ip and can ping it, but my computer says it has limited access on the lan connection. i do not get the menu screen from the x3 that is shown on pictures that i have seen and the system stops after it locks the HDD. any idea how to access the xbox drive?
So, what comes up on the screen? I've dealt with two Xecuter 2.6CE chips in the past, and I was always brought to a blue screen similar to the one in the tutorial.
i have a blue screen and at the top it says flashbios 3.0.1. below that is: enable network flashing (in yellow) load bios c:/bios unlock HDD lock HDD at this point it locks up. this is using an x3ce chip
Are you sure it's locking up? I vaguely remember having issues with the menu and not being able to move at first... I don't remember how I got around it though. Try hitting A since enable network flashing is colored yellow, and see if it'll do anything. As for the ethernet port, it should be firmware driven. If you can get the chip to enable network flashing, you should be able to flash it from your computer using that tutorial. Did you already get the latest BIOS off xbins?
i pressed the A button and it shows duplex with some other info. the lac displayed an ip and a mask. when i put the ip into explorer and push go it has a host error. the box then says the ip defaulted to 198.168.0.99. are there some explorer settings that i need to change?
You shouldn't have to change any settings on IE. Did you try connecting to 192.168.0.99? According to the guide, if DHCP fails then it'll default to that IP. http://team-xecuter.com/flashbios/http.htm
i booted up my machine and though i would select load bias from c:\bios. when i select this it says bios found. i then noticed at the top of the screen that it looks like the hard drive has been renamed d: along with dVD drive. somehow it looks like the HD has been changed to D:. do you have any suggestions?
Well, you could always try flashing it from a disc. I have no idea how the hard drive partition's could've been reassigned.
i would do that but one of the problems that occured when the bias install went bad was the DVD drive stopped working. the drive will not open by pushing the button but when the box starts up it recognizes the drive on D:
Well, looks like network flashing is your only option then... Try it again and tell me exactly what happens so I can try and help based on that.
whey the box boots is displays D:WDC(hd info) D:Thompson DVD it does look to have changed the drive letter. is there anyway to rename the drive back to C:?
when the box falls back to 192.168.0.99 i can still ping the original address of 167.254.167.226 and a mask of 255.255.0.0 could that be the reason i can't ftp to the box?
i removed the x3 chip and board. now i fould the box will not even power up without the chip. with the chip in the box will boot to flashbios screen but will not network connect. any ideas?
Was it installed properly to begin with? I just don't see how a hard drive partition could be reassigned with formatting it...
